Why
Offer Hypnoanalysis?
By Mark Clark, MS, Ph.D.
The interplay of the conscious and subconscious mind has been a focus of study since the infancy of the scientific study of the psyche. Healing happens when the subconscious becomes conscious.
James Braid, Freud, and Jung used hypnosis to reveal the subconscious. Freud and Jung abandoned it as the world was not ready to understand how hypnosis works. There was too much fear.
The bold world today is exploring psychedelics, which allow individuals to tap into their subconscious to get relief from the confines of their conscious mind. Hypnosis is another avenue into the subconscious.
Articles on the clinical use of hypnosis are appearing more frequently. We need to understand ourselves in a deeper way and address difficulties in behavior or thought that interfere with our development.
Hypnosis is focused attention while ignoring extraneous stimuli. In this state, the subconscious mind can reveal itself to the conscious mind. Using relaxation, insight, suggestion, and a variety of techniques that will be demonstrated at the conference, memories can be reconsolidated to provide relief from symptoms.
The supportive learning methods of AACH provide a wellspring of resources for the clinician, have been tested over time, and allow the therapist and the client to deepen their relationship with themselves.

Name Change from AAMH to AACH
The organization changed its name from The American Academy of Medical Hypnoanalysts to The American Academy of Clinical Hypnoanalysts to better reflect its members’ professional backgrounds. With fewer medical doctors in the group, the term “medical” in the previous name could cause confusion. The new name highlights our members’ expertise in clinical hypnoanalysis and ethical counseling, regardless of their medical training, ensuring more transparent communication with both professionals and the public.
